New York, NY (Sports Network) - Several high-profile college quarterbacks, including USC's John David Booty and Hawaii's record-setting Colt Brennan, highlighted the nearly 200 players taken in the second day of the 2008 NFL Draft.

After the new, streamlined format of the draft bumped the third round to Sunday, Detroit acquired the first pick of the day from Miami and used it to draft Central Florida running back Kevin Smith, who ran for an astounding 2,567 yards and 29 touchdowns in his final year in Orlando.

In the fifth round, the run on big-name signal-callers began with a pair of Pac-10 stars.

The Minnesota Vikings took Booty with the second pick of the round (137th overall). The Shreveport, Louisiana native led the Trojans to the Pac-10 title and a Rose Bowl win in 2007. Nineteen picks later, the Steelers took a chance by drafting Oregon's Dennis Dixon, considered the front-runner for the Heisman Trophy before injuring the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee late last season.

Brennan, the owner of 31 NCAA passing records, went to the Washington Redskins in the middle of the sixth round, while Kentucky's Andre' Woodson went to the Super Bowl champion New York Giants late in the round. Woodson joins former Wildcat Jared Lorenzen on the New York depth chart behind Eli Manning.

A few picks after Woodson was taken, the Indianapolis Colts scooped up one of the most decorated skill position players left, Michigan running back Mike Hart. A four-year starter for the Wolverines, Hart set school records with 1,015 carries for 5,040 yards.

Notable in the seventh round was the Lions' selection of Army safety Caleb Campbell, the first player from one of the service academies drafted since Air Force's Bryce Fisher in 1999, and the first from West Point since quarterback Ronnie McAda in 1997. Campbell had his four-year commitment to the military waived and will be able to play with Detroit this season.

The 252nd and final pick went to the St. Louis Rams, who gave Idaho linebacker David Vobora the honor of being this year's "Mr. Irrelevant", the nickname given to the final player drafted.

USC led all schools with 10 players taken over the two days of the draft, while LSU had seven players drafted off its national championship team.
